Our 6-man surgical team flew into New Orleans just after the storm. We triaged at New Orleans International airport, which was basically only flying helicopters for rescue missions. We performed surgery tendon repairs at the Pete Marivich Center in Baton Rouge. Even relocated 5 families (21 people) back to North Carolina with Operation Blessing. NASCAR & Joe Gibbs Racing Team provided transport for us between Louisiana & Fayetteville.
When June came along, with its sweet song, I knew it was time for our trip. We were to travel by both plane and ship. The purpose was to find a treasure, Its worth, our hope, beyond all measure. We were to follow a map to Alaska’s Lake Clark, Passed down through the generations by our patriarch. Our party numbered myself plus ten, Each one of us kith and kin.
